PAUL CURRAN, Teesside's former Commonwealth champion and Olympian, followed up the previous weekend's road race victory with a double triumph last weekend.
The Optimum Performance rider took victory in both the Cleveland Coureurs ten-mile two-up team time trial along with another Olympian, Chris Newton (North Wirral CC), on Saturday and then topped the success with a win in the Knaresbrough CC's 25-mile time trial on Sunday, despite extremely hard and windy conditions.
In the first event, the Cleveland Coureurs ten-mile two-up team time trial, there were no surprises when Curran and Newton won the event with a time of 19mm 34sec.
Second place, one minute and one second behind, was a Cleveland Wheelers team of brothers Marcus and Daniel Smith and in third place there was a dead heat between two Stockton Wheelers duos.
Ian Murray with Stuart Whitell and Doug Howes with Ian Hellaway both rode 21min 48sec.
There was a strong wind on the course and an outgoing head wind tail wind on the way in.
