Close call for Curran

FORMER double Commonwealth champion Paul Curran rode his new Dinnington RC-Ideal Travel colours to victory but was given a close call in Clifton CC's open '10' at York on Saturday.

On a blustery day, with the rain holding off until he was finishing, last man off Curran clocked a respectable 22-6 but was pressed to within two seconds by Justin Lewis (VC Nouveau).

Tony McKenna (Middridge CRT) continued his early-season promise with 22-20 which earned him third place out of a full field of 120 by 12 seconds from Lee Burns (Bradford Wheelers).
