Sunderland Clarion - Norman Moore Memorial '25'

Curran tries '25'

Commonwealth Games double gold medallist Paul Curran (Manchester Wheelers-Trumanns Steel) turned his talents to time trialling when he won the Sunderland Clarion-Norman Moore Memorial "25", breaking course record for the M25/1 on Sunday.

He was a convincing winner with 55-37, knocking 1-27 off the record set last year by Mike McVittie (Barnesbury CC) who was second this time with 57-14. No one else came near to them or beat the hour.

McVittie led his club to the team prize.

Bright sunshine at the start disappeared behind cloud at the dead-turn where a tail-wind sprang up to blow riders back down the single-carriageway course.
