THE North-east's final road event of the season, the 45-miles Hades road race on Tyneside, was won by Teesside Clarion's Bob Swailes, sprinting home at the head of a five-man group which established itself half-way through the race.
Swailes took an inches victory over Stockton Wheeler Paul Curran, while in third place, continuing his good end of season form, was Dave Baronowskl of the Ferryhill Wheelers-Dryden Insurance club.
The leading three placed riders, along with Chesterfield's Dave Jarvis and John Bootland of Ashington, had held a minute advantage over the rest of the field almost from the halfway point.
