RALEIGH GRAND PRIX

In-form Curran takes £500 prize

FORMER amateur kingpin Paul Curran gave another superb demonstration of his track skills to win the 90-lap Sunday finale for the Benny Foster Memorial Trophy and a first prize of £500.

The race, run-off in a track record 37-55.34, ebbed and flowed throughout until Curran stamped his authority over the final laps with an attack at the decisive moment which only Chris Boardman (Manchester Wheelers) could stay with.

Colin Sturgess (Tulip Computers) started the race after dashing back from Brighton but retired on the 34th lap, nursing a tender calf muscle.
