V.C. York Pro-Am Road Race

WAINWRIGHT EMULATES ELLIOTT

John Wainwright (Raleigh-Weinmann) followed team mate Malcolm Elliott's victory in the Sealink event when he won the V.C. York pro-am road race over an 82 mile course yesterday.

Wainwright headed a 10 strong leading group which had formed with two of the six laps remaining, the Sheffield rider taking the flag by two lengths from fellow professional Simon Day (P.C.A.).

Paul Curran, the Manchester Wheelers amateur, took third place ahead of Dave Stevens (Leeds St Christophers), with professional Mike Williams (Wightman) next after catching the leaders in the last half mile.
