CURRAN CRACKS CROFT RECORD

IN his last competitive ride before flying out to Brisbane to represent Britain in the Commonwealth Games, Stockton Wheeler Paul Curran sliced 45 seconds off the Croft course 25-mile record yesterday.

Curran finished the second event of the Richmond and Darlington CC Complan weekend eight seconds faster than runner-up Bronte Wheeler Phil Bell while in third place was Dave Shorrocks from Cleveys. Curran timed 55min 15sec.

Led by fifth-placed Arthur Caygills time of 57min 45sec, the Richmond and Darlington squad took the team prize with the trio which also included his brother Les and Roy Osborn.
