THORNABY CRT-Been Bag's Kevin Byers grabbed victory in the first of three events Cleveland Coureurs Australian Pursuit series held on the Great Ayton, Great Broughton, Ingleby Greenhow, Battersby circuit.
In the final sprint, Byers a first year senior, took the decision with Northallerton rider, Chris Vasey of Hambleton RC, in second place, one position ahead of Guisborough's Stuart Morris of the Dinnington RC-Universal.
In fourth place, after an impressive ride in the 200 miles Rotalac three-day stage race in Cheshire last weekend which earned him fifth place on general classification as he helped the Great Britain squad to the team award, was Stockton Wheeler Paul Curran.
