Richmond & Darlington Hardriders |
STOCKTON Wheeler Paul Curran continued to demonstrate his outstanding early season form when he won the first local time trial of the season, the Richmond and Darlington Hardriders 22½-mile hilly event at West Auckland by over a minute.
With rain beginning to fall as the event began, and conditions deteriorating throughout, Curran covered the Bildershaw, Royal Oak, Denton course in 1-3-48.
In second place, Richmond and Darlington's Arthur Caygill recorded 1-4-52 while, after a long and successful season of cyclocross, Hambleton RC Junior Michael Gilby is adapting well to competition against the clock, taking third place in 1-7-9.
Next local rider was Thornaby CRT-Been Bag's Paul Donohue, who collected sixth place with 1-10-28, two places ahead of former Hambleton rider Dave Wilson, now a member of the Ferryhill Wheelers CC, who covered the course in 1-11-9, followed by Hartlepool CC's Martin Bourner with 1-11-41, and a 1-12-33 from Peter Bate.
